Mega Free Health Camp Held in Morada to Mark 25 Years of Service Commitment
Morada, October 11: A mega free health camp was organised at the Morada Regional Hospital in Mayurbhanj district as part of a service initiative marking 25 years of commitment to public welfare. The camp was organised jointly with the support of Hi-Tech Medical College and Dr Krishna Chandra Mahapatra, Odisha’s Minister for Housing and Urban Development. Located near the West Bengal border, Morada Regional Hospital caters to thousands of people from the surrounding areas. A large section of the local population belongs to economically weaker communities and faces financial difficulties in accessing advanced medical treatment in cities such as Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. The free health camp provided an opportunity for many underprivileged patients to receive medical examinations and quality healthcare services at no cost. However, the shortage of regular medical services at Morada Regional Hospital remains a concern for local residents. Although two doctors are reportedly providing services on deputation for eight hours, patients have to depend on hospitals in Baripada and Baramile during the remaining hours. Residents have repeatedly demanded that the hospital be upgraded to a Community Health Centre (CHC) to ensure round-the-clock medical services. People attending the health camp from distant areas expressed the need for such initiatives to be organised regularly, preferably every month, so that economically disadvantaged patients can access specialised medical consultations and treatment. During the programme, Minister Dr Krishna Chandra Mahapatra, Hi-Tech Group Chairman Tirupati Panigrahi and the Mayurbhanj CDMO inaugurated a newly constructed building at the Ayushman Arogya Mandir associated with the regional hospital. The minister also voluntarily provided a blood sample for testing and encouraged other people present at the camp to undergo medical examinations. Speaking on the occasion, Hi-Tech Group Chairman Tirupati Panigrahi said that he considered the opportunity to serve the people of Morada a blessing from Lord Jagannath. He stated that patients identified with thyroid gland disorders and heart diseases would be provided free treatment. Minister Dr Krishna Chandra Mahapatra said that the people of Morada had given him an opportunity to serve them. He assured residents of his commitment to upgrading the hospital to a Community Health Centre (CHC) and improving the quality of healthcare available to the local population. The programme was supported by Dr Deepak Kumar Nayak, Superintendent of Baramile CHC; Dr Suman Choudhury; Ms Sangeeta Swain; Pharmacy Officer Himanshu Sekhar Dalai; and other hospital staff members. A team of experienced doctors from Hi-Tech Hospital provided medical consultations and healthcare services to patients during the camp.
