Woman Dies Amid Allegations of Delayed Treatment:“She Suffered Throughout the Night… and Died in the Morning”

Three-Year-Old Child Left Motherless; Serious Allegations of Medical Negligence at PRM Medical College and Hospital Baripada (Staff Reporter): A 27-year-old woman died at PRM Medical College and Hospital in Baripada, allegedly due to a delay in treatment, according to allegations made by her family. The deceased has been identified as Sangeeta Naik (27), wife of Ajit Naik of Gopinathpur village under Jharpokharia police limits. According to allegations by Sangeeta’s mother and brother, her health condition suddenly deteriorated. The family said she was suffering from severe pain and had lost movement in both her legs. She was initially taken to the Bangiriposhi Community Health Centre. Following medical tests, the family claimed that she was found to have a critically low haemoglobin level. As her condition was serious, she was referred to PRM Medical College and Hospital in Baripada, where she was admitted by her family on Friday evening. According to Sangeeta’s brother, Ashish Naik, the family requested that she be given blood immediately because of her low blood count. He said the family was also prepared to arrange blood themselves if necessary. However, the family alleged that they were told that blood could not be administered at night. They further alleged that Sangeeta remained in severe pain throughout the night while the family waited for medical attention, and that a doctor did not come to examine her despite the emergency situation. Later, in the morning, a doctor reportedly arrived and informed the family that Sangeeta had died. Following her death, the family has raised questions regarding the alleged delay in treatment and the availability of blood at the required time. They have demanded an impartial investigation into whether she received timely medical treatment, whether there was any delay in arranging blood, and what exactly caused her death. Sangeeta’s death has left her three-year-old son without his mother. The family is also reportedly devastated by the loss of their daughter. Her brother Ashish Naik has demanded a proper investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death. He also sought accountability in accordance with the law if any negligence is established during the investigation. Meanwhile, no clear response has reportedly been received from the hospital authorities regarding the allegations.
