Workshop on “Role of Artificial Intelligence in Interdisciplinary Research” Inaugurated at MSCB University
Baripada, 07/04: A practical training workshop titled “Role of Artificial Intelligence in Interdisciplinary Research” has been inaugurated in the Department of Computer Applications at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University. This five-day program, sponsored under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA), was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Pramod Kumar Satpathy, as the chief guest. Professor Biswajit Rath, Acting Chairman of the Postgraduate Council, presided over the session. In his address, Prof. Satpathy stated that artificial intelligence is now a reality in today’s world and serves as a powerful tool for modern research. He expressed hope that such programs would open new avenues for interdisciplinary research and help students tackle future challenges. The keynote speaker, Dr. Suparna Kanti Das, a scientist from DRDO Chandipur, emphasized that AI is not just software but a remarkable integration of science and technology. He noted that after the data age, we are now in the AI era, and its influence will continue to grow stronger in the coming years. Professor Indrajit Naik, PM-USHA Training Nodal Officer of the university, attended as a guest of honor. He highlighted that such training programs under the PM-USHA scheme would enhance the quality of education and contribute significantly to skill development among students. Presiding over the event, Prof. Biswajit Rath mentioned that the training would provide researchers with practical exposure to solving real-world problems and help position the university as a leader in AI research. The Head of the Department and Convener, Professor M. Himabindu, delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests. Assistant Professor and Coordinator Dr. Prashant Kumar Swain presented an overview of the program, while Assistant Professor and Co-Coordinator Dr. Swaroopananda Bisoi delivered the vote of thanks. The course materials for the training program were also released by the dignitaries. As invited speakers, Mr. Manas Kumar Rath, Senior Director of Technology at Brandscapes (Atlanta), and Associate Vice President Dr. Tanmaya Swain conducted training sessions for the participants. More than 40 postgraduate students from various departments including Economics, Zoology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Business Administration, RSGIS, and Biotechnology participated in the program. Faculty members and students of the university were also present during the inaugural session.
