BADASAHI BLOCK JE OF MAYURBHANJ DISTRICT NABBED BY ODISHA VIGILANCE WHILE TAKING BRIBE RS 32,000/- FOR CLEARING FINAL BILL UNDER MGNREG SCHEME

Today i.e. on 10.07.2026, a shotwhile ago, Sushil Kumar Singh, Junior Engineer JE), Badasahi Block, Dist.Mayurbhanj, has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance *while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs.32,000/- from a Mate engaged under MGNREGA for a GP under Badasahi Block for clearing the final bill of the above work*. The mate was looking after the execution of one morum/metal road work at a cost of Rs.5 lakhs in the GP. After completion of the work, he had been requesting the accused JE Sri Singh for a couple of months to clear the final bill. But, the accused Sri Singh demanded bribe Rs.32,000/- ( approx 7% of cost of the work). When the Mate expressed his inability to pay the demanded bribe, accused Sri Singh insisted on taking a bribe. Finding no other way, Mate( Complainant) reported the matter to vigilance authorities. Following this, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Singh while taking bribe Rs.32,000/- from the complt.*The entire tainted bribe money Rs.32,000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Sri Singh, JE and seized*. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations linked to Sri Singh, Junior Engineer from DA angle. In this connection, Baleshwar Vigilance PS Case No 10/2026, U/s 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Sri Singh, JE. Detailed report follows.
