Mayurbhanj BJD Youth and Student Wing Demands Resignation of School and Mass Education Minister
Baripada, July 9 : The Mayurbhanj District Biju Youth and Student Janata Dal (BJD) staged a massive protest in Baripada today, demanding the resignation of School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond over the preparation of erroneous school textbooks and the prevailing disorder in the state's education system. On the occasion, a memorandum was submitted to the Minister through the Mayurbhanj District Collector, urging him to resign immediately on moral grounds. The BJD Youth and Student Wing alleged that by publishing incorrect textbooks, the government has jeopardized the future of thousands of innocent students. They stated that since the School and Mass Education Minister bears moral responsibility for the incident, his resignation is the only appropriate course of action. Despite continuous rainfall, thousands of youth and student workers gathered in Baripada to launch the district-level programme of the statewide "Save Education" campaign with great enthusiasm. Addressing the gathering, State BJD Youth President Chinmay Sahu called upon the youth and student community to unite against the government's flawed education policy and intensify the movement while demanding the immediate resignation of the School and Mass Education Minister. State BJD Student President Ipsita Sahu thanked all the youth and student workers for making the protest successful despite the heavy rain. She also warned that the "Save Education" movement would be intensified across the state if the government failed to address the issues. The massive protest rally was organized under the direct support of Mayurbhanj District BJD President and former Minister Sudam Marndi, with the guidance of senior BJD General Secretary and former Deputy Speaker Sananda Marndi. The meeting was presided over by Krushnananda Mohanty, Chairperson of Baripada Municipality. A grand procession was taken out through the town. Former Mayurbhanj District BJD President Debashish Mohanty and former Baripada Vice-Chairperson Jitendra Mohanty participated in an innovative protest by carrying effigies of the Chief Minister and the School and Mass Education Minister on a bamboo pole. More than 2,000 students, youth workers, and guardians voluntarily participated in the agitation and burnt the effigies of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond. The programme was attended by several senior leaders and public representatives, including Zilla Parishad Chairperson Bharati Hansdah, former MLAs Srinath Soren, Rajkishore Das, Ganeswar Patra, Raisen Murmu, and Chakradhar Hembrom, senior leader Prabhat Nayak, MCC Bank Chairman Subrahmanyam Mohanty, City BJD President Prabhat Mohanty, Vice-Chairperson Seema Das, Diptilata Mishra, Pritinanda Kanungo, Youth President Arun Barad, Student President Sunil Nayak, Zonal President Abdul Habib, Baripada Assembly Youth President Saroj Satpathy, Baripada Assembly Student President Abhas De, State General Secretaries Jit Pattnaik and Ashirbad Das, along with numerous other youth and student leaders and party workers. .
