Mayurbhanj District Collector Visits Flood-Affected Areas

Baripada... (Dr GDGiri) Heavy rainfall caused by a strong low-pressure system over the past two days has led to severe flooding in Mayurbhanj district. The worst-affected areas under Badasahi Block include the flood-hit villages and panchayats of Shalgaon, Mangobindpur, Cheliak, Patisari, and Patulipura, where floodwaters have inundated large areas. To tackle the disaster, the district and block administrations have remained on high alert. Relief materials are being provided to stranded residents, and people living in low-lying areas have been shifted to nearby flood and cyclone shelters for safety. Floodwaters flowing over the Nakhara Bridge on the Baripada–Baishinga main road have disrupted transportation. The administration has also arranged boats to deliver dry food and cooked meals to people trapped by floodwaters. The Mayurbhanj District Collector stated that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the safety, health, and food supply of affected residents.
