Freshers’ Welcome Programme Held at MSRCB University’s Department of Computer Applications

Baripada, October 3: The Department of Computer Applications of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University organized a welcome programme titled “FreshGlow 2K26-28” to formally welcome the newly admitted students of the 2026–28 academic session and familiarize them with the department’s academic, research and professional environment. The programme was presided over by the Head of the Department, Professor M. Himabindu. In her presidential address, she offered guidance on mental health and encouraged students to maintain a balanced approach while dealing with academic pressure, career concerns and personal challenges during student life. She also urged them to have confidence in themselves and seek counselling whenever necessary. Assistant Professor Dr. Prashant Kumar Swain delivered the welcome address and, through a presentation, introduced the newcomers to the department’s teaching methodology, curriculum, academic opportunities and various departmental activities. On the occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Swarupananda Bishoyi welcomed the new students and advised them to develop their skills, creativity, problem-solving abilities and research aptitude alongside their academic studies during this new phase of higher education. Former students of the department conveyed their greetings to the newcomers through video messages and shared their experiences and suggestions on making effective use of opportunities during student life to build successful careers. Manas Kumar Rath, Senior Technical Director of Brandskapes Worldwide, spoke about the rapid changes in technology in the industrial sector, emerging opportunities in computer applications and information technology, and the need for students to prepare themselves according to industry requirements. He advised the students to focus on continuous learning, technological skills and professional values. Later, students of the third semester welcomed the newcomers and shared their experiences in the department. The first-semester students introduced themselves and spoke about their interests, expectations and aspirations while accepting the welcome. The programme concluded with various cultural performances presented by the students of the department.
