150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda and district level tribal glory day celebrated in Mayurbhanj*

Baripada: 15.11.2024// On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of the great hero Dharti Aba Bhagavan Birsa Munda, who has embraced the motherland in this period of history, Tribal Glory Day has been observed all over the country and to celebrate this special day, the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Jamui, Bihar with the entire nation through virtual media. Along with celebrating this day, various tribes have laid auspicious foundation stones for development projects. In this context, the Odisha government's Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes, Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Department and the district administration have been raised in a grand ceremony on the 150th birth anniversary of Abba Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Mayurbhajan in a grand ceremony. Hon'ble Minister, Housing and Urban Development and Public Enterprises, Government of Odisha, Dr. Krishna Chandra Mahapatra inaugurated the event as the Chief Guest. Hon'ble MLA, Sarasakna Shri Bhadav Chandra Hasda, District Council Chairperson Smt. Bharti Hasda, Udala were present at the event. Announced Local Council, Mayor Ms. Pramila Panda attended. All the dignitaries collectively watched the live broadcast of the Prime Minister's program from Bihar via virtual media, along with paying floral tributes to the photograph of Lord Birsa Munda. In his speech, Hon'ble Minister Dr. Mahapatra said that the saga of Lord Birsa Munda's sacrifice is an important chapter in the history of the great revolutionaries of the tribal communities of India. The struggles of the tribals indicate that this land has a unique tradition where no society or community is isolated from the mainstream. The forest dwellers, including the Adhuna Scheduled Tribes, have always been a part of India. "Once upon a time, Bhagwa Birsa Munda and other revolutionaries were considered as 'unsung heroes' of our history. But in recent times their strength and sacrifices are being appreciated more and more. To commemorate the contribution of tribal freedom fighters, Bhagwa Birsa Munda's birth anniversary November 15th in 2021 has been declared as 'National Glory'. Our history-mindedness has increased more than ever with the government's decision to celebrate it as 'Day' Respect for tribalism has become the focal point of Indian history. His Excellency the President of India is also a tribal and today the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Odisha is also a tribal. It will be a true tribute to the fighters," Hon'ble Minister Dr. Mahapatra said in his speech. In this context, 11 successful personalities from the tribal community of the district namely Mundari writer Budha Singh, Rugby player Narsingh Marndi, Mundari poet, Bhanumathi Singh, Tikilimani Soren (Civil Service), Birmal Singh (Lecturer), Bajinath Hembram (Footballer), Dr. Meena Hembram (Medical Officer), Dr. Patachandra (Medical Officer), Dr. Ruby Hembram (Medical Officer), Vikas Beshra (Civil Service), Shudashree Naik (Civil Service) were honored on District Tribes Day. Along with this, 11 PVTG mustard farmers were awarded FRA certificates and honored for their improved cultivation methods. Along with this, five beneficiaries were given financial assistance of Rs. 20,000 each under the PM-Janman Rural Housing Scheme. However, at around 11 am, the Prime Minister launched a commemorative coin and postage stamp in Jamui, Bihar, in honor of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and launched multiple developmental projects worth over Rs 6,640 crore to improve infrastructure and upliftment of tribal communities in rural and remote areas of the region. To promote tribal entrepreneurship and help create livelihoods, the Prime Minister inaugurated 300 Forest Wealth Development Centers (VDVKs) and 10 unique model residential schools worth around Rs 450 crore dedicated to tribal students and two tribal freedom struggle museums at Chindwada and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Inaugurated two tribal research institutes in Gangtok, Kashmir and Sikkim. In the said meeting, Additional District Collector Mr. Bibhu Bhushan Naik along with District Collector, Additional District Collector Mr. Daulat Chandrakar, Baripada Upazila Collector Mr. Bhudu Chandra Naik, Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer of District Council Mr. Shantanu Kumar Naik, Baripada Municipal Executive Officer Dr. Madhusmita Samanthara were present in the said meeting. was The day-long program was coordinated by Project Administrator, AITDA, Mr. Pranay Kumar Behera, while Additional District Welfare Officer, Ms. Smlilipi Sahu conducted and gave the vote of thanks.
