Due to the rising levels of various pollutants, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has deteriorated significantly, placing the district among the most polluted cities in the country at present. In view of this, a high-level meeting of senior officials was held under the chairmanship of District Collector Shri Hemakanta Say to take steps to control air pollution. Based on the decisions taken in the meeting, several restrictions have been imposed for the general public. No brick kiln will be allowed to operate without the necessary permission. The National Highways Authority and urban authorities have been directed to sprinkle water on all roads at intervals of every three hours. The police, municipalities, NACs, all executing agencies, and the RTO have been directed to ensure strict enforcement of these rules. As per the restrictions imposed for the general public, demolition activities and earthwork are completely prohibited within urban limits.
