Public movement demanding formation of new Gram Panchayat

Kandhamal, (Fast News Odisha): Public discontent has intensified over the demand for the formation of a new village panchayat. Residents of the area went to the chief minister's complaint room. After the notification was issued by the state government, the residents of Magdingia area applied for the formation of a new village panchayat. Kandhamal District The people of Magdingia area have been depending on Bandguda Gram Panchayat under Nuagaon Block and were facing many problems. For more than 10 years, the residents of the area have been demanding a new village panchayat in Magdingia from the block administration to the Chief Minister's Grievance Chamber, but nothing has been done. According to information, the people of this area were initially included in the Bandaguda Gram Panchayat, but due to the increase in population, the Government demanded the formation of a new panchayat at Jiridikia. In 2015, a panchayat was formed at a distance of just one km from Bandguda. As a result, the people of these ten villages were facing a lot of difficulty in going to the panchayat for ration rice, allowance and other tasks due to the distance of about 12 km. As a result, the residents of the area filed a written complaint against the village development officer. Due to no success, Kandhamal met the District Collector and filed a written complaint. Due to Kandhamal District Collector not taking any action, the residents of the area took refuge in the High Court, which is still pending. Now that the new government has come, Chief Minister Mohan Charan has gone to court and filed a written complaint. It remains to be seen whether Kandhamal District Collector will do a high-level investigation and give fair justice to the residents of the area. If it is not implemented in the next few days, the residents of the area have given a stern warning to surround the office of the District Collector, including the block office.
