5th Edition Hockey Tournament – Junior Boys Category Mayurbhanj Team Advances to Second Round

Baripada, (03/05): The Mayurbhanj district team has delivered an outstanding performance in the Junior Boys category of the 5th Edition Hockey Tournament, organized by the Hockey Association of Odisha at Birsa Munda Stadium, Rourkela, and has successfully advanced to the second round. Representing Mayurbhanj, the Hockey Grassroots Centre from Chadeigaon Government High School under Morada Block achieved this success. In an exciting match of the tournament, the Mayurbhanj team defeated Jharsuguda district by 3–0 goals to qualify for the second round. From the very beginning, the Mayurbhanj team displayed an aggressive style of play and established dominance in the first half itself. The players maintained pressure on the opposition through well-coordinated passing, a strong defensive structure, and quick counter-attacks. For the team, Rajen Tudu played a key role by scoring two शानदार goals, contributing significantly to the victory. Similarly, Ghasiram Hembram added one more goal, strengthening the team’s lead and ensuring the win. The goalkeeper and defensive line also performed remarkably well, not allowing the opposition any opportunity to score. It is noteworthy that this Hockey Grassroots Centre is being successfully managed under the supervision of District Sports Officer Dr. Subhashish Nayak. On this occasion, Dr. Nayak stated that such achievements play a crucial role in bringing forward sports talents from rural areas of the district. He expressed his gratitude to all the players, coach David Soreng, and supporting staff for this success. Furthermore, he advised the team to remain focused and adopt well-planned strategies for the upcoming matches.
