11th National Ayurveda Day Celebrated at Hatikot Government Ayurvedic Hospital Baripada, September 23, 2026: Report by Gouro Das Giri On the occasion, a special healthcare and yoga camp was organised on the hospital premises to spread the message of Ayurveda for a healthier future. Dr. Smt. Rubin Behera, Chief Medical Officer of the hospital, addressed the patients and the general public on the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, maintaining a balanced diet, and practising yoga and pranayama for overall well-being. Free medicines were distributed among the patients and visitors. Ayurvedic plant saplings were also distributed to promote cleanliness, greenery and awareness about medicinal plants. A yoga camp was conducted for patients and members of the public attending the programme. Dr. Smt. Rubin Behera said that Ayurveda is not limited to the treatment of diseases but also focuses on healthy living, disease prevention and the protection of overall health. She highlighted the rich tradition of Ayurveda, which has evolved from the ancient teachings of sages and physicians such as Charaka and Sushruta. She further stated that strengthening Ayurveda within the mainstream healthcare system is one of the important objectives of observing Ayurveda Day. Earlier, Ayurveda Day was celebrated on the occasion of Dhanwantari Jayanti. However, following a decision of the Central Government, National Ayurveda Day has been observed annually on September 23 since 2025. Dr. Smt. Rubin Behera urged people to adopt Ayurveda as a complementary approach to maintaining good health and receiving appropriate healthcare, with the aim of promoting a healthier and longer life. She further said that Ayurveda is deeply connected with India's culture and traditions and that its valuable contributions are now being increasingly recognised across the world. The programme concluded with Dr. Smt. Rubin Behera expressing her gratitude to all the patients and members of the public who attended and supported the event.
