Karanjia College Students Set an Example of Humanity
Karanjia, October 3 (Bureau): Sixteen-month-old Trishika Ray from Jajpur district of Odisha is suffering from a rare and serious genetic disorder, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 2. Her treatment requires a rare injection costing approximately Rs. 16 crore, putting a tremendous financial burden on her family. In a commendable gesture of humanity, students of Karanjia Autonomous College came forward to support the helpless child and her family. As per their capacity, the students went door to door and collected Rs. 31,520 to help meet the cost of Trishika’s treatment. The collected amount was handed over to the family. Students including Satyabrata Majhi, Debashish Patra, Prabin Kumar Sethi, Rajesh Kumar Mahanta, Laxminarayan Mahanta, Raju Murmu, Sujit Kumar Pradhan, Debakinandan Mahanta, Uday Kumar Naik, Ankita Nayak, Nirupama Nayak, Ipsita Nayak, Priti Pramanik and Debashish Sahu appealed to fellow students to participate in the initiative. Subsequently, students of the college joined hands to raise the amount. The students’ humanitarian initiative has been widely appreciated by local residents and intellectuals. It was observed that such a spirit of cooperation among the younger generation for helping underprivileged and helpless people would inspire others in society to come forward and extend their support.
